According to Ice Universe, Qualcomm has set the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 price at USD 240, which he says is a 20.46% increase over its predecessor. The cost of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is in the USD 190 – USD 200 range.

This claim corroborates previous claims by Yogesh Brar and Ming-Chi Kuo, both of whom predicted the price increase early on.

The primary factor for the price hike is the use of TSMC’s latest “N3E” process node. Qualcomm is also using its in-house Oryon core instead of the ARM cores used in previous iterations.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be an octa-core processor with 2 “Phoenix L” efficiency and 6 “Phoenix M” performance cores. It will also house a Low-Power AI (LPAI) subsystem with a dedicated DSP and AI accelerator (eNPU).

The chip will use a new GPU interpolation technique that results in massive performance gains. According to Digital Chat Station, this will result in 35% performance gains and less use of dedicated visual processors in smartphones, like the one provided by Pixelworks.

The same source claimed that there would be multiple Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-powered phones within the first of its announcement as there would be no “initial product protection period.” The initial list includes the Xiaomi 15 series, Vivo X200 series, OnePlus 13, and iQOO 13.
