Microsoft today announced the latest generation of its Surface Laptop and Surface Pro devices. Both machines are equipped with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X processors and are positioned as the first Copilot+ PCs in the market.
Surface Laptop 7 Gets Arm Processors and Design Refresh
The new Surface Laptop is the first in the series to move away from Intel processors, opting for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite chips.
Microsoft claims these new ARM SoCs offer performance improvements that even top the latest Intel-powered Surface Laptop 6 for business. Alongside it comes the promise of all-day battery life, something that has often eluded previous Surface Laptop iterations.

Perhaps more noticeably, the Surface Laptop 7 has a new design with slimmer bezels, rounded corners, and a larger haptic touchpad. The port selection also gets a revamp, with a mix of USB-A, USB-C, and a headphone jack.
The Surface Laptop 7 display comes in two sizes, 13.8 inches and 15 inches. The 13-inch model sees a slight bump in size compared to its predecessor 13.5-inch thanks to the reduced bezels while the larger model stays at 15-inch. Both displays retain the same resolution as before, but now are more responsive thanks to support for up to 120Hz Dynamic refresh rate.
The Copilot+ features are the highlight of new PCs. The most exciting of them is the Windows Recall feature that creates snapshots of everything you do and see on your Surface PC and later lets you search those tasks and information through natural language queries.

The Recall works completely on-device and the Copilot+ suite includes a host of other AI features such as real-time language translation and enhanced Windows Studio Effects.
However, users will have to wait until a broader rollout of Windows 11 version 24H2 later this year to experience the full range of Copilot+ features. Pre-orders for the Surface Laptop 7 are live with a starting price of $999.99 for the 13″ model and $1299.99 for the 15″ model. Shippings are expected to begin next month.

Surface Pro 11 Gains Copilot+ and OLED Display
The new Surface Pro 11 also gets the Copilot+ treatment with similar AI-powered features as the Surface Laptop 7. Powering it are the same set of Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite chips configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of removable SSD storage.

More importantly, it is the first Surface PC to offer a choice for an optional OLED display for improved colors, and contrast. The panel is 13 inches in size and both the IPS and OLED versions mostly have the same set of core features such as a 3:2 aspect ratio, dynamic refresh rate up to 120Hz, Dolby Vision IQ, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 support.
Unlike the Surface 7, the overall design of the Surface Pro 11 remains unchanged from its predecessor. Microsoft has introduced new color options for the Surface Pro Flex keyboard with a Copilot key and a built-in battery for wireless use.

Similar to the Surface Laptop, pre-orders for the Surface Pro are already up starting at $999.99, with shipments expected next month. It will be the first device to come pre-loaded with Windows 11 version 24H2, but like the Surface Laptop, some Copilot+ features won’t be available until the wider release of the OS update later in the year.
