Honor is bringing its previously China-only foldable phone, the Magic V3, to the global market. It boasts the title of the world’s thinnest inward foldable at a mere 9.2mm when closed, making it feel more like a traditional phone than its bulkier competitors.
The phone also manages to stay light at 226g. Honor claims this slimness is achieved through a combination of 19 innovative materials and 114 microstructures.
Durability is another focus for the Magic V3. The company says it has used a “Special Fiber” in the body material that increases impact resistance by 40 times compared to other flagship phones while remaining impressively thin. There’s also IPX8 rating for protection against water and dust.
The hinge is built to last too, with a promise of withstanding 500,000 folds and earning an SGS Durability Certification. An “Honor Super Armored Inner Screen” and “Honor Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield” round out the phone’s defensive features.
The Magic V3 unfolds to reveal a large 7.92-inch display, complemented by a 6.43-inch external screen. Both offer a variety of eye-comfort features, including something called “AI Defocus Display technology” – a world first according to Honor.
Powering the phone is a 5150mAh battery, which Honor claims is a third-generation Silicon-carbon battery. This should translate to good battery life, further enhanced by the phone’s support for 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
On the camera front, the Magic V3 boasts a triple-lens system with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 40MP ultrawide lens. It also has a Harcourt Portrait option that the company introduced with Honor 200 series smartphones earlier this year. For selfies, a 20MP camera is on each screen for selfies and video calls.
The phone runs Android 14 with MagicOS 8.0.1 on top. There’s also a focus on AI-powered productivity features. The company is collaborating with Google Cloud to integrate features like AI Eraser, Face-to-Face Translation, and translation tools within the Notes app.
The Honor Magic V3 will be available in Black, Green, and Reddish Brown color schemes and for a starting price of £1,699 (~$2,236) in the UK and €1,999 (~$2,218) in Europe.
