By this time, you likely know that Tecno is preparing to launch its second-gen foldable series, consisting of Phantom V Fold 2 and Phantom V Flip 2.
Tecno put the two folding phones up for pre-order in Ghana a while ago without revealing the complete feature set. However, we’ve been sharing exclusive details, including pricing and live images of the foldables, over the past few weeks.
Third time’s the charm, they say. So now, we’re bringing you the official specifications for the upcoming Phantom V Fold 2 and V Flip 2.
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
The Phantom V Fold 2 will have a 5.5mm foldable design, which is the phone’s thickness when unfolded.
The phone will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Users will be able to add 12GB of virtual RAM at the expense of the storage.
It will be fueled by a 5750mAh battery, which will be the biggest for a foldable. Vivo’s X Fold 3 Pro currently holds that title packing a 5700mAh cell. Refueling duties will be handled by 70W wired and 15W wireless charging.
It will sport a 6.45-inch screen in the cover whereas the main display measures 7.85-inch. Both are AMOLED panels with refresh rate of 120Hz and there is also support for a stylus called Phantom V Pen.
The triple camera setup on the back consists of a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP portrait camera. For selfies, there is a 32MP front camera.
On the software side, Tecno has also added some AI tricks, including Circle to Search, Two-way conversations, and Call & Text summary.
Tecno Phantom V Flip 2
Coming to Phantom V Flip 2, the most notable change is the switch to a rectangular cover screen. It measures 3.64 inches and is fully customizable, with support for full keyboard typing and mini-games. Tecno has added Corning Gorilla Glass Vicuts for protection.
Close to the cover display is the dual-camera setup, consisting of a 50MP main camera and 50MP ultra-wide shooter. Inside, there is a 32MP selfie camera.
The main display has a 6.9-inches LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it brings MediaTek Dimensity 8050 with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
Techno Phantom V Flip 2, Fold 2: Pricing and Availability
Phantom V Flip 2 is priced at GHS 9,8000 (~ USD 632) for the 8+256GB variant. It will be available in Karsl Green and Ripping Blue color options.
The Phantom V Fold 2 has a GHS 16,550 (~ USD 1,065) price tag for the 12+512GB storage configuration. It will come in Traverine Green and Moondust Gray colors.
The launch date is not confirmed although it has previously been reported that the two foldables could go on sale from September 8 in Ghana.
