Oppo is all set to unveil the Reno 12 series on the global stage on June 18. The lineup, consisting of a vanilla Reno 12 and a Pro model, first made its debut in China last month. So far, it has been speculated that Oppo will release these two phones with minor changes for the global market.

However, Spill Some Beans now brings you exclusive information about the third smartphone in the line, the Oppo Reno 12 FS 5G. This new phone will serve as the entry to the Reno 12 lineup and thus will sport modest specifications and features.

Cosmo Ring Design

To start off, the Oppo Reno 12 FS 5G brings a different design compared to the Reno 12 and Pro models. The rectangular camera module is replaced by a circular island that Oppo has dubbed the “Cosmo Ring Design.” The ring also features a Halo Light that can be customized with 8 colors for important notifications and alerts.

Over on the front, Reno 12 FS is built around a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED (2.5D) screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 600 nits brightness. It has 100% DCI-P3 color coverage and AGC DT-Star2 protection.

Under the hood, Reno 12 FS packs the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G, the successor to MTK 6100+ with higher-clocked Cortex-A76 (2.4GHz) performance cores. It is paired with 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB UFS 2.2 storage. There is also support for up to 12GB of RAM expansion.

Supplying juice to the Reno 12 FS is a 5,000mAh battery. With 45W SuperVOOC charging at the helm, the phone can go from 0 to 50% in 39 minutes. The full charging time is listed at 69 minutes.

The aforementioned Cosmo Ring will house a triple camera setup and an LED flash. Leading the line is the 50MP OmniVision OVD50D primary shooter. It is joined by an 8MP IMX355 ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro shooter. There is a 32MP selfie shooter housed inside the punch-hole cutout over on the front.

Rest of the specs

Oppo Reno 12 FS 5G sports a flat-frame design with rounded corners. It measures 7.76mm and weighs 187 grams. There will be two colors available at the launch: Amber Orange and Black Green.

It brings an under-display fingerprint scanner and IP64 rating. It will run ColorOS 14 based on Android out of the box.

Another highlight of the Oppo Reno 12 FS 5G is its suite of AI features. This will include AI Eraser to remove unwanted people and objects from photos, AI Smart Image Matting and AI Studio to turn pictures into stickers and portraits into artworks, and AI LinkBookst and AI BeaconLink for optimized connectivity.

Oppo Reno 12 FS 5G Price and availability

Oppo Reno 12 FS 5G will most likely launch alongside the vanilla Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro on June 18. It will be priced at EUR 399.99 for the sole 12GB+512GB storage variant.
