- BYD Seagull, the fastest-selling electric mini car in China, launches its 2025 version with design upgrades and unchanged affordable price.
- The new model boasts improved interior, exterior, and comfort features while retaining its spaciousness and impressive range.
Since its debut in 2023, BYD Seagull has sold over 500,000 units by July 2024, making it the fastest-selling pure electric A00-class car in China. The company today introduced the 2025 model of its Seagull EVs with design and feature upgrades while keeping the price the same as its predecessors.
The 2025 BYD Seagull starts at 69,800 yuan ($9,700) for the base “Vitality Edition,” with the “Freedom Edition” and “Flying Edition” priced at 75,800 yuan ($10,500) and 85,800 yuan ($12,000) respectively.
The exterior design retains the Seagull’s “ocean aesthetics” concept but now has a unified “BYD” logo at the rear, mirroring the front. The 2023 edition has the full acronym “Build Your Dream” at the back.
The Freedom and Flying Editions has new 16-inch “ice crystal smart wheels” for a more dynamic appearance. The interior sees an upgraded ceiling fabric for improved durability and a revised “Dune Pink” color option for a more harmonious look. Additionally, there’s an Ocean Blue shade available for the interior. Exterior color options include Arctic Blue, Warm Sun White, Polar Night Black, and Peach Pink.
The Seagull also retains its spacious interior with a 2500mm wheelbase and a 66.1% axle-length ratio, offering ample room comparable to A-segment cars. Inside is a 7-inch floating instrument panel and a 10.1-inch adaptive rotating floating pad with voice interaction and BYD’s intelligent DiLink service.
BYD has upgraded the air conditioning system across the 2025 Seagull series for passenger comfort. The Freedom and Flying Editions also come with heated front seats and a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat for added convenience.
For safety, all trims are equipped with standard features such as airbags, electronic stability control, parking brakes, disc brakes, and NFC car keys for improved security. The 2025 Seagull series also includes VTOL (vehicle-to-load) support and has Type-A and 60W Type-C charging ports for your connectivity needs.
The 2025 Seagull is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, featuring the company’s signature blade batteries known for their safety and high energy density. The car comes in two battery options: a 30.08 kWh battery with a 305 km (190 miles) CLTC range for the Vitality and Freedom Editions, and a 38.88 kWh battery with a 405 km (252 miles) CLTC range for the Flying Edition.
It has an electric motor that delivers a maximum power of 55 kW (74 hp) and 135 Nm of torque. As expected from an EV, the Seagull offers adjustable torque control with four driving modes—Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow.
All models can accelerate from 0-50 km/h (0-31 mph) in 4.9 seconds. DC fast charging replenishes the battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
