Apple Vision Pro will hit the US market starting February 2. And if you are not still sold on the $3500 headset, Apple has just released a press release highlighting a bunch of things you can do with it for “entertainment.” So, let’s take a quick look at them.
Disney+ Plus Apple Vision Pro
Probably the biggest headline here is the partnership with Apple and Disney+ streaming platform. Together they have committed to making 3D version of popular Disney Plus movies available during the launch of Vision Pro.
As for new releases, the 3D version will either launch alongside or immediately after the launch of the 2D version.
You will be able to enjoy Spatial Audio while watching your favorite movies on Apple Vision Pro regardless of the number of D or Dimensions associated.
To add to the immersive experience, Disney+ subscribers can choose from four virtual screening environments:
- Disney+ Theater (inspired by El Captain Theater in Hollywood)
- Scare Floor from Pixar’s Monsters Inc
- Marvel’s Avengers Tower overlooking Manhattan
- Cockpit of Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder
Other Streaming Services (One Notable Exception)
And it is not just Disney+ content that is coming to Vision Pro. Apple has announced that Vision Pro will support other streaming platforms. Here’s the official list:
- Amazon Prime Video
- Crunchyroll
- Discovery+
- Disney+
- ESPN
- Fubo
- IMAX
- Max
- MLB
- MUBI
- Paramount+
- Peacock
- PGA Tour
- Pluto TV
- Red Bull TV
- TikTok
- Tubi
This list covers all most all the major streaming platform except for Netflix. And it is not a surprise that there won’t be a visionOS version of Netflix app.
There rumors were there from the beginning — it is just an official confirmation.
That said, you won’t have any problem running the native Netflix app on the Vision Pro, as reported by the Verge.
Apple TV Originals
Needless to say, the Vision Pro will have support for Apple’s own TV+ Originals. Furthermore, MLS Season Pass is also available if you are a soccer/football fan.
There would be 150 3D movies at launch including Avatar: The Way of Water, Dune, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and the Super Mario Bros.
If you already own a 3D movies on Apple TV, you will be able to access it via the Vision Pro by default.
Apple is also offering four “immersive” titles to Vision Pro users for free on the Apple TV app: Alicia Keys: Rehearsal Room, Adventure, Wild Life, and Prehistoric Planet Immersive.
Apple TV app on the Vision Pro will also feature Cinema Environment which will take you to a virtual personal theater.
You can take any seat you want, the one on the floor, on the balcony, front, middle or the back.
Encounter Dinosaurs (And Million other apps)
Apple is also debuting a brand new app titled Encounter Dinosaurs exclusive to the Vision Pro.
This app executive produced by Jon Favreau will take you to the Cretaceous Period allowing you to interact with Dinosaurs virtually.
And there is no fee associated, Encounter Dinosaurs is free for Vision Pro buyers.
Likewise, you will be able to access over a million apps on the new App Store and 250 games through Apple Arcade.
