Rumors have been circulating that Xiaomi will launch its first clamshell-style folding phone later this year. The Xiaomi Mix Flip has already been subject to multiple leaks, giving us a glimpse of its design, camera, and internal hardware.
Xiaomi is now laying down the foundation for the launch of the said foldable. Lu Weibing, the President of Xiaomi Group, recently held a poll on its Weibo handle where he asked people to choose from book-style foldable, flip-style foldable, and standard phones.
Out of 13,564 total votes, 49.1% went for standard non-folding phones, 30.2% for book-style foldable, and 20.7% went for flip phones.
Sharing the result, Lu stated that their interest in flip phones exceeded his expectations. He also added that flip-style foldables have been “good-looking” but “not easy to use.”
Xiaomi Mix Flip Specifications (rumored)
This comes right after the Xiaomi Mix Flip was spotted at the China Quality Certification (CQC) listing. The listing revealed that the phone, model number 2405CPX3DC, will support 67W wired fast charging.
Xiaomi Mix Flip has the codename Ruyi and is known internally as N8. The phone, together with the upcoming Mix Fold 4, will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It will come equipped with a 4,900mAh battery with the said 67W charging support.
It was previously reported that it would feature a 50MP primary shooter with a 1/1.55″ image sensor and Optical Image Stabilization. The new leak relates the technical specifications to OV50E by Ominivision. Likewise, it also corroborates that the second camera would be a portrait shooter with a 60MP OV60A sensor and a 2x telephoto lens.
Xiaomi Mix Flip will have a custom 1.5K screen for the main folding display. The cover display is said to be a large one, although the exact size is not known yet. The phone will debut with a slim and light form factor and will miss out on satellite connectivity.
Xiaomi Mix Flip Launch Timeframe (Tentative)
Xiaomi Mix Flip is said to debut alongside the Mix Fold 4 in the Q3 of 2024. The phone could be priced at CNY 5,999.
