Just a few months after launching the Redmi A3, Xiaomi’s sub-brand is prepping another entry-level phone in the A series — the Redmi A3x. While Redmi itself hasn’t officially announced the phone, we exclusively got our hands-on on the official marketing materials revealing the device in full.
So the Redmi A3x will differ from the A3 in two areas. First is the chipset. The A3 came equipped with MediaTek’s Helio G36, but it will be replaced by Unisoc T603 in the A3x.
While the marketing material suggests both SoCs perform similarly on the AnTuTu benchmark, the T603 has a more superior architecture with two Cortex A75 cores and six Cortex A55 cores compared to eight Cortex-A53 cores on the G36.
Redmi A3x will debut with 3GB of RAM and an option to virtually expand the memory by an additional 4GB. The software side will see Android 14 pre-installed, with promises of two years of Android updates and three years of security patches.
The second notable change is in terms of design. Redmi A3 is available in a vegan leather finish in the Forest Green color. The A3x will replace it for a glass back in the new Aurora Green variant.
Similarly, the Moonlight White option will replace the Star Blue whereas the Midnight Black shade remains the same for both phones. Not to be confused, all the color options on the A3x will have a glass back with plastic frames, and the phone measures 8.3mm in thickness.
The rest of the specs will be similar to Redmi A3. That means, the phone will have a 6.71-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, DC Dimming support, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.
The back will feature a circular camera module with two lenses — a 50MP main and an auxiliary sensor. Interestingly, Xiaomi’s marketing material highlights that the A3x camera design looks similar to their top-of-the-line Xiaomi 14 Ultra, calling it a “Xiaomi’s heritage design.” The selfie camera is a 5MP sensor.
Keeping all things powered will be a 5000mAh battery and you will get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics. There’s more the marketing materials of the device reveal, which you can see below:
