Huawei is pretty much the talk of the town these days after launching the world’s first tri-fold phone, the Huawei Mate XT. But the company’s launch train isn’t slowing down anytime soon since Huawei is set to unveil its next-gen smartwatches next week. That too with a supposedly “groundbreaking” new health monitoring standard. And guess what? We already have the exclusive first look at the upcoming Huawei Watch GT 5.
What to expect on Huawei Watch GT 5
So first things first, the Huawei Watch GT 5 will be available in two sizes: 41mm and 46mm. Just like last year’s Watch GT 4. The 46mm variant still has that bold, octagonal look, while the smaller 41mm model is definitely still gunning for a “luxury watch” aesthetic.
But no matter the size, both of them are equally robust and well-built. Including a metal bezel, a stainless steel body, and 5 ATM water resistance to name a few. There’s also a rotating crown and a programmable button on the right, and it will be available in a bunch of different color options and strap designs as well.
And like the design, this guy won’t bring any upgrades on the display or the battery life department either. You’re still looking at a 1.32″ AMOLED screen on the 41mm version and a 1.43″ AMOLED screen on the 46mm model. Whereas Huawei promises 7 and 14 days of maximum battery life on them, respectively.
I know it all sounds kinda underwhelming so far but the Huawei Watch GT 5 has the biggest upgrades where it matters the most. Which is health and fitness tracking itself.
So the thing is, this will be among the company’s first smartwatches to feature the all-new “Huawei TruSense” health and fitness sensor technology. And with improvements in everything from the way sensors are placed to the health monitoring algorithm, Huawei says this is “a major breakthrough”. With significantly better accuracy and faster readouts in everything from heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation) level, body temperature, and more.
To make the most out of the much-improved health tracking ability, the Huawei Watch 5 will also have a new “Health Glance” feature. Which will let you measure 10+ health indicators like heart rate, SpO2, stress, pulse wave arrhythmia, ECG, arterial stiffness, and more in under a minute.
In terms of fitness tracking, this smartwatch will support 100+ sports modes. It’ll also have a built-in navigation system (GPS, GNSS), while we’re also expecting some major upgrades this time when it comes to running and cycling exercises.
Pricing and availability
Huawei has confirmed that it will unveil the Watch GT 5 on September 19, 2024, during the “Innovative Product Launch” event which will be held in Barcelona, Spain. There’s obviously no official word on the pricing yet but we can safely assume that the Huawei Watch GT 5 will start at around €250 like its predecessor.
Besides this, there are a couple of other Huawei gadgets to look forward to next week. Like the Huawei MatePad 12X (a global rebrand of Huawei MatePad Air 2024), Huawei Watch Fit 4, and Huawei Watch D2 that can measure your blood pressure level.
