Nothing’s latest mid-range device, the Phone 4a Pro, is now official—and it marks the biggest design change we’ve seen from the company since it started.
Gone is the fully transparent back that put Nothing on the map, replaced by a metal unibody construction.
Saying Goodbye to Transparency
The Phone 4a Pro is sports a metal unibody, departing from the transparent back design that have defined Nothing products. It’s also missing the Glyph LEDs, now replaced by a monochrome pixel display called Glyph Matrix.
The transparent design with Glyph light is what made the Phone 1 stand out when Nothing starting out. While subsequent releases tweaked the formula, including the introduction of Glyph Matrix on the flagship Phone 3—the Phone 4a Pro represents the most dramatic step away from the original vision.
The back and frame are now crafted from aircraft-grade aluminum, lending the device a more premium feel. The only nod to Nothing’s transparent heritage lives within the camera unit, which houses the triple camera setup and the new Glyph Matrix while retaining a hint of that signature see-through aesthetic.
The back, along with the frame, is now aircraft-grade aluminum except for the camera unit which houses the triple camera setup and said Glyph Matrix while retaining the hint of the iconic transparent design.
The Glyph Matrix itself consists of 135 individual LED pixels capable of displaying notifications, live updates, and what Nothing calls “Glyph Toys”—custom interactive tools that let you personalize how the phone communicates with you.

Performance and Cooling
That metal back serves a practical purpose too. It is paired with a 5,300mm² vapor chamber to create a unified cooling system designed to keep the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 cool under pressure.
The new chip delivers meaningful upgrades over the Phone 3a series: 27% faster CPU performance and 30% improved graphics. It also packs Qualcomm’s latest AI Engine, promising a 65% boost in on-device AI processing speed.
The phone comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. You get two choices: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.
Battery and Charging
Powering all of this is a 5040mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging and 7.5W reverse charging. Interestingly, the Indian market gets a larger 5400mAh battery.
Triple Camera Setup
Headlining the 4a Pro’s camera setup is the 50 MP OIS Sony Lytia 700c sensor with an f/1.88 lens. It is paired with another 50 MP OIS periscope camera with 140 X Ultra Zoom (3.5X Optical Zoom). The 8 MP 120° ultra wide camera remains unchanged from last year.
Over on the front, Nothing has gone with a 32 MP front camera with 89° field of view for wider coverage.
Display
The new display on the Nothing Phone 4a Pro is both bigger and brighter than its predecessor. It’s a 6.83-inch 1.5 K Flexible AMOLED with a 144 Hz adaptive refresh rate. It is a 10-bit panel with 1.07 colors and brightness maxing at 5000 nits. Other neat display features include 2160 Hz PWM frequency and up to 2500 Hz of touch sampling rate.
Software
The Phone 4a Pro ships with Android 15 wrapped in Nothing OS 4.1. Nothing is committing to 3 years of software upgrades and 6 years of security patches.
The Nothing OS comes with software comes the Essential AI toolkit, which includes Essential Search, Essential Space, and Essential Memory. Nothing has also included Essential Apps to let users create their own app using AI.
Users can even check out what other are creating through the community-driven PlayGround. This include Essential Apps, camera presets, and Glyph Toys.
